Īs is the case with the majority of Haggard's works, the story draws heavily upon adventure and exotic concepts. Harmachis attempts to use his priestly magic to undermine Cleopatra's rule. The main character Harmachis (the living descendant of the pharaoh's bloodline) is charged by the Priesthood to overthrow the supposed impostor Cleopatra, drive out the Greeks and Romans and restore Egypt to its golden era. The story is set in the Ptolemaic era of Ancient Egyptian history and revolves around the survival of a dynasty bloodline protected by the Priesthood of Isis. Cleopatra mixes historical action with supernatural events, and could be described as a historical fantasy novel. Volume 1 covers Columbus to Reconstruction Volume 2, the late 1800's to the Present. The text is written directly to the student with lessons clearly laid out and easy to follow. Obviously designed with the homeschool student/family in mind, the two volumes (each about 400 pgs.) that make up the curriculum text are very readable and interesting, with carefully chosen illustrations. A student completing the course as outlined would earn three high school credits history, English (literature and composition), and Bible. ![]() The result is a comprehensive, intensely Christian look at the events, the people, the culture, and the faith of our nation with an emphasis on a God-centered worldview. He tried to flee but the wizards were relentless and were determined to conjure him into their world and bind him as their demon slave for all of eternity! And these crazy wizards? Turns out they were going to war and planned to use their new demon slave as a secret weapon to obliterate the enemy! _ Jenn was a journeyman Thaumaturge at Lenamare's Academy of Wizardry. The next thing Tom knew, there were these deranged myopic wizards from some place called Astlan calling on him in some sort of pig Latin mumbo jumbo. Before he knew it, Tom was having a seriously bad trip a total out of body experience where the world had dissolved around him.
